New Table

Monday, March 30th, 2009

After deciding that round table we had didn’t really fit our space when combined with a booster seat and high chair, Dayna arranged to sell our old table on Craigslist so we could get a new rectangular table to give us a bit more room.  I think it accomplished that goal.

I found it unusual to see Danelle wiping the table down, until I remembered she did that fairly often last summer so that we would eat outside in the evenings.  She knew the outside table had to be clean before we would eat out there, which she really liked to do.  I think at this point she was still optimistic the table was headed outside for dinner that night.

O.K., so we did actually have a different table in the garage to put in the space.

It even has proper legs on it now and enough room for all four of us to get in and out without tripping over each other.

Beware the Ides

Friday, March 27th, 2009

Yes, I know it’s a bit late, but this is what the Ides looked like at our house this year.

Your choice if you want it to refer to the snow or the crazy guy.

Thea Around the House

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

Finally after months of not doing anything, you might be starting to notice a trend of Thea pictures and activities.  She finally has decided to become a bit more interesting.  We’ve loved her all along, but really, you can only think up so many stories about a sleeping baby.  Not anymore around here though.

She pulls herself up on any furniture or person she can reach, with no thought to the consequences.

And she is also getting taller as you can see.

She has also really been getting into this whole eating thing.  Rumor has it she really likes beans and corn, but I’m not sure how long that trend will stick.

Of course, after all that activity she packs into her days lately, she does still sleep hard when evening comes.

She sat up during a nap there, then fell asleep while sitting and ended up like that for a while.

Crossroads Park

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

A few weeks ago (this would be at least two snow storms back), Danelle and Thea went with me to Crossroads Park down in Bellevue.  We had never been there before, but decided to see what it was like.  It turns out one of the big draws there is a big water play area.

There are lots of rubberized whales and other animals scattered around with nozzles that I presume shoot water during the summer.  The blue ground is sort of a rubbery soft surface, perfect for Thea to play around on and not get covered by tree bark or dirt.

Despite what these pictures might suggest, the park was swarming with kids.  Both in the water area, and the regular playground equipment.  Danelle and I decided we’d go back this summer when the water is on.  I think Danelle has already been to more different (and almost all good) parks than I went to in my entire childhood.  They are all over the place in this area, and have really cool equipment.  I’ll try to put up some more posts over the summer as we discover more neat parks and play structures.

Song Time

Friday, March 20th, 2009

Danelle has always kind of liked to sing, and lately has really liked to play the drums.  Or any tin can and wooden spoon as the case may usually be.  Thea has also started to clap fairly often.  Sometimes they make a pretty good duo.

Even after Thea is done, Danelle needs to finish the song in style, even if her spelling is a bit shaky.  She’s only three though, so we’ll give her some slack.
