Thea Updates

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

I don’t have a whole lot to write, but Grandmas seem to want some pictures.  Thea is doing pretty well.  Sleeping, eating, all the sorts of things babies should do.  Not always when we want her to do those things, but she gets them taken care of.

Often when Thea’s not asleep, Danelle is near by to entertain or soothe her.

She really looks up to her big sister.

She also holds her head up pretty well, unfortunately we don’t usually have a camera handy to catch that before crying ensues.  One of these days.

Best of the Web (According to Danelle)

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

For those interested in what Danelle likes on the web, here are some of her favorites.

The first is a video that as she finished watching, she walked into the kitchen for dinner and said “That’s a great video!”.

That is the Sesame Street version of Feist’s “1 2 3 4″, although she really likes the original, which she sings and dances along with as well.

For games online she loves this alphabet game.

Also, after a neighbor came home from Alaska, she got a stuffed moose. When she plays with that, she asks to see the moose stuck in a lake video.

As a side note, youtube is great for watching videos with a toddler.  When she wants to know what an animal sounds like, we can easily find one and listen to it.  Or watch just our favorite Sesame Street clips.

Happy Birthday to Dayna

Monday, July 21st, 2008

Last Saturday was Dayna’s birthday.  Because she is such a great mom and wife, Danelle and I decided she deserved a little bit of pampering, which she doesn’t get nearly as often as she deserves.  We got up early, made a trip to the store for donuts and came back home to set some things up for her.

That reads “Super Mommy’s Happy Birthday Foot Spa”.

Before Mommy came downstairs, the help decided to have a little bite to eat.

The other help, just really wanted something it looks like.  The results of this was expected, especially when adding in cocoa with whip cream, a new treat to Danelle.

Once Mommy got downstairs, Thea wasn’t quite as helpful as Danelle.  Maybe that was a good thing though.

But she looked cute and sort of vaguely watched the happenings.  The first big step was to let Dayna soak her feet while opening cards and packages.  Danelle got a little overzealous and managed to get each knee in a separate foot tub.

I think that might have happened while she was giving Mommy the princess hairband.

After that Dayna got her nails painted red, which aren’t shown here because I really didn’t do a very good job at it, but I think the effort might have counted for something.  Danelle also ended up with blue toenails, but wouldn’t hold still for pictures of them.

As we were finishing up painting them, Aunt Rachel and Uncle Jason arrived.  After a short while, Danelle ended up playing frisbee with them in the back yard.  The day before that she actually started to throw the frisbee mostly in front of her, rather than to the side or back.

Aunt Rachel seemed to state a few times she likes holding babies.  Nicholas was born last summer, Thea this summer, I guess it possible for someone to show up next summer.  Just saying.

Around lunchtime Jacob and Elisabeth stopped by with some lunch for us and to see Thea for the first time.  It was good seeing them, but I guess we didn’t have the camera out when they were here.  I’m not sure if Elisabeth or Rachel taught Danelle to rub her hands in chalk and leave handprints on the deck, but she sure enjoys doing that now.

Several hours of Mario Kart Wii were also raced during the afternoon.

Grammie and Papa Boo showed up in the afternoon as well, so we had a pretty steady stream of activity around the house.  After dinner, Koa decided he liked his new friend for the day.

Danelle also decided Uncle Jason was pretty fun.  She also got to try on a test dress to make sure sizes were right for her flower girl dress next month.

Personal highlight of the day for me was when Danelle got Aunt Rachel, Grammie, and Papa Boo to do Ring Around the Rosey with her.

At the end of the day most everyone was worn out, but the first to sleep was of course Thea, with several others following along shortly.

An Interesting Combination

Take one piece chalk art (courtesy of Aunt Amy, primarily).

Add a pug/beagle that likes to lay in the sun and you get this

Moe y el Gran Escape

Danelle and I went to the library last week and saw a couple of Veggietales DVDs on the shelf. She always likes veggietales, so I let her pick which of the two we should check out. This is the one we ended up with.

I actually did notice it was the Spanish one just before checking out, but I also noticed it had English as the secondary audio, so decided it wasn’t a big deal. She really likes it, but then again she pretty much likes every VeggieTales episode she has seen, so that isn’t a big surprise.
