Wii Sports Tennis

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

Sometimes Danelle likes to play Wii games with me. Usually she likes tennis or race cars (Mario Kart). She’s not always the best, but she is getting better. Of course if any family or friends have a Wii and want to exhange friend codes so Danelle can visit your bowling alley, ours is: 1337 0019 9217 1149. Add yours in comments or email it to me.

And while I’m writing this I thought I would test embedding a video from another website to see which I like better.  This video is from when Danelle was a little over 2 years old.

The Flamingos are Here

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

We took a trip to the zoo today. This weekend was the opening of the flamingo exhibit, which anybody at the zoo probably noticed as almost every worker had a flamingo on their shirt, in addition to signs at all the gates and a new map with a flamingo picture. Danelle also knew about it in advance from the zoo magazine and her calendar. So of course we stopped to look at them first thing in the day.

Danelle thought they were pretty cool, so we stayed there for a while.

Afterwords, Danelle pretended to be a turtle

and a caterpillar

We also went into the petting zoo, were we petted goats and a little horse

After lunch outside and visiting the “dark room” or night exhibit as most people call it, we waited in line to see the butterfly exhibit which just opened up for the season.  Danelle was very patient.

Which was a good thing, because in addition to the butterflies flying around, we saw one that had just crawled out of it’s cocoon.

All in all, a fun trip to the zoo as normal.  After we got home, she said her and Koa were going to go visit the zoo.  When asked how they would get there, she said she would drive if I put the keys in the car for her.  During dinner she also informed us “the reason I don’t want to go to sleep is I want to spend time with Mommy and Daddy”.  It was a nice reason, but we told her she still had to go to bed tonight.

Swingset Work

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

A few weeks ago we picked up a swingset via Craigslist. Between visiting Moses Lake for Mother’s Day and a busy weekend with concerts and such, we didn’t get a chance to do much with it until today. Since the forecast showers didn’t show any signs of visiting us this morning, we decided to start painting.

First Danelle and I had to work on taking some more pieces apart.

Then Danelle got distracted while trying to cut part of the seat with the wrench.  She doesn’t quite understand what specific tools do what yet.

After disassembling, I started to primer the parts

In the meantime, Dayna and Danelle worked on cleaning the garage for a while.  Danelle even tried out the carseat to see if it would work for her sister.

We are still in the process of putting on coats of paint, especially since we had to make a run to the store for more, but so far the posts are starting to look nice.

Hot Day

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

Today was really hot.  The forecast was for the 80’s, but it was hotter than that.  Danelle, Koa, and I took a short walk to the park around 10:30 this morning.  Even with water to drink there, Koa was acting hot when we got home.  As I was walking in the house I saw the temperature outside.  By the time I got my camera it had cooled down about 5 degrees, but still it was hot.  How hot was it?  See for yourself.
